Reservations & Conditions
Reservations are accepted by online booking, telephone, email or post and will require your name, address and telephone number plus full details of a valid debit card or credit card to secure the reservation. Card details needed are card number, expiry date, issue number if applicable, security number and cardholder’s name.
A deposit of £ 50.00 per person is required for all reservations of two nights or more. We will take this from your credit/debit card when you make your reservation. For a one night stay payment in full may be required.
A reservation is a binding contract and we do reserve the right to make a cancellation charge of up to 90% of the cost of your stay if cancelled within seven days of arrival or altered during your stay. A cancellation made between 28 and 7 days of the due date of arrival we will withhold any deposit paid and as a gesture of goodwill hold monies paid in your name for up to twelve months only from the date of cancellation, and may be re-used against a similar future booking. A deposit can be returned only if in excess of 28 days written notice is given, however a £10.00 administration fee will be charged. If this concerns you then we can only recommend for you to have adequate travel insurance.
Prices are per room per night, with full English breakfast. A £ 5.00 per person supplement may be charged for a single night stay. Subject to availability, we reserve the right to charge a single occupancy rate of any double or twin room of up to 85 % of the room rate. With bookings during the summer season for seven nights and longer in the same room we offer the 7th and 14th night free of charge, ( conditions apply ) For children within the parent’s room on an additional bed we charge an extra 50 % of the booked adult price. We will endeavour to maintain the above prices for as long as possible, and should circumstances cause us to alter our prices, we will of course honour any confirmed reservation. However, all our prices include Value Added Tax (V.A.T. = Sales Tax) at the standard rate and should the rate of V.A.T. alter, we reserve the right to adjust prices accordingly. We accept payment by most major debit and credit cards, traveller cheques, sterling cheques guaranteed by a bank card, and cash. Visa, Master Card and Debit cards are accepted free of charge. We do not accept American Express and Diners Cards. Accounts are payable on departure, and guests are requested to vacate their rooms by 10.00 a.m. on the morning of departure.
Dolvean House is a non-smoking establishment throughout, and we reserve the right to levy an extra cleaning charge should anyone smoke anywhere within our premises. Smoking disposal facilities are offered at the house front, in the garden.
We offer parking in our private car park on the basis of one car space per room. If you require extra space for a further vehicle, boat trailer or a larger vehicle, this can only be by prior arrangement and is subject to availability. Vehicles are parked on our premises at the owner’s risk.
We welcome children of all ages but only by prior arrangement and that suitable bedding is provided, but like to point out, that Dolvean House does not provide special family rooms or children features, such as cots, or play areas. Some rooms can be equipped with one additional fold-up-bed for a child up to ten years. This can only be done by prior arrangement and is subject to availability of suitable rooms.
We do not allow dogs or other animals to stay in our house and guest rooms other than guide dogs.

Turn left off the A39 Mevill Road and temporarily park at the top off the driveway. There is a level approach to the front door where there are four steps (with handrail) to enter the building. Ring the doorbell for attention and check in. The car driver should then park the vehicle in our private car park. The car park is down a slope and to the left at the rear of the building. Spaces are clearly marked and there is dusk to dawn lighting.
Inside the building
All corridors are illuminated 24 hours a day. All areas are carpeted except the bathrooms. A pay phone is located on the ground floor where, in case of emergency, a free call to the owners can be made. Some mobile phones receive a poor signal due to the granite walls. Teletext is available in all bedrooms on remote control colour televisions. There is access to the internet through our Wi-fi point.
All bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. Every bathroom is different, some having baths with shower spray taps and some with showers. Room ‘Killigrew’ on the ground floor has a bath with a secure grab rail. Non-slip rubber mats are available. Most en suites bathrooms now have non-slip tiled floors, and a programme of refurbishment is on-going to complete this work.
There is an Italian garden at the rear of the building which guests are welcome to enjoy.
Dolvean House endeavors to provide access and excellence to all its guests, at all times, whatever their needs. Should there be anything you feel we should be made aware of in order to ensure your comfort and safety, please do not hesitate to inform us. There is a level approach to the front door where there are four steps (with handrails) to enter the building. Access from the main ground floor hallway leads to the lounge, dining room, reception, bar, video/dvd library, public toilet, 1 single bedroom and 1 twin bedroom. There are stairs to the remaining bedrooms, but there is no lift. The layout of the building is unsuitable for wheelchairs. A large print menu is available. The surface in the garden is mainly loose gravel.
